  • Should I Stretch Before or After I Warm Up?
    Always warm up before you stretch. If your muscles aren’t loosened up before you stretch, you’re more at risk of pulling them. Do about 5 minutes of light aerobic exercise to loosen up your muscles and warm up for your run.
  • Why Do I Feel Out of Breath While Running?
    When you’re running, you’re breathing harder and some huffing and puffing is expected, especially when you first get started. Try to focus on breathing in and out through your mouth. Concentrate on breathing from deep inside your belly. Deep belly breathing allows you to take in more air. Try to run at a pace at which you can breathe easily.
  • How Fast Should I Run?
    Most daily runs should be done at an ‘easy’ pace. The best and simplest way to determine this is to run slow enough so that you can carry on a conversation without gasping for air.
  • What should I wear while running?
    You don’t need any fancy equipment or expensive running clothing. All you really need to get started with running is a good pair of shoes. You need fresh, well-cushioned shoes that are designed for running, fit well and match your foot type and running style. You don’t need to buy the most expensive pair of running shoes in the store, but invest in a good pair.
  • What Type of Socks Should I Run In?
    The best running socks are ones that are made from synthetic materials such as polyester, acrylic, and CoolMax because they’ll wick away moisture. For winter running, wool blends such as SmartWool are also a good pick.
  • Should I Run Through Pain?
    After a long run, you’re most likely to feel some overall muscle soreness. But when you feel pain in one particular spot, it could be a sign that something’s wrong. Please stop immediately and consult a doctor.
  • Should I Eat Before a Run?
    When you begin a run, you should feel neither starved nor stuffed. Eat a light snack or meal about 1 1/2 to 2 hours before you start running.
